The Network Isolator MI 1005 protects patients and medical devices from excessive leakage currents that may flow through the data network. The network connection between an active medical device and an Ethernet network or a non-medical device, such as an office PC or laptop, is reliably galvanic separated according to the standard IEC 60601-1 (edition 3.2) for medical devices and systems. The MI 1005 network isolator can be used as an accessory or component of a medical-electrical device or system.This world – wide established network isolator offers a flexible and easy option for immediately isolating of medical equipment. In less than 5 seconds, patients, users and equipment are protected from dangerous leakage currents flowing via the data network. Under stress conditions the MI 1005 isolator was tested up to a isolation stength of 10 kV DC (10 S Sec.) and 5 kV AC (60 Sec.). Furthermore, 8 kV contact discharge and 16 kV air discharge are easily fulfiled. The Network Isolator MI 1005 is also available as a build-in isolator or for wall mounting.

Scopes of Application for network isolators:
In medicine: Network isolators protect patients and medical devices from excessive leakage currents that may flow through the data network. Every device connected to the network represents a risk. This data network connection is ultimately also a risk for patients. The MI 1005 Ethernet Isolator protects patients, equipment and users from dangerous leakage currents that can appear unexpectedly at any time. Measuring and monitoring: Network isolators protect sensitive measuring and monitoring devices in el electrical testing laboratories, which are connected through an Ethernet network to a control centre, and need to be protected from transients and potential differences. Server systems: In order to avoid failures or potential equalization currents, network isolators pro protect server systems which are connected over long distances via Ethernet cabling. Audio applications: The MI 1005 reduce the transmission of low frequency alternating currents (AC hum) over the network connection.

Commissioning: The Network Isolator MI 1005 can easaly be plugged into an existing network cabling by simply insert inserting. The passive electronic components do not require a separate power supply and behave completely transparently on the data network. Therefore, no installation of drivers or additional software is required.

The MI 1005 network isolators fulfill the high requirements of current medical standards as per IEC 60601-1 (Edition 3.2) and IEC 60601-1-2. For this reason, these galvanic network isolators are ideally suited to use in medical sectors. The MI 1005 network isolators are listed for their consistent quality by UL in accordance with applicable UL standards and requirements. Representative samples of this product have been assessed by UL and fulfill the applicable safety standards. Use on US and Canadian markets is therefore possible.
